Grand Canyon National Park

What can I say about Grand Canyon National Park?  This is just one of those places that everyone should visit sometime in your life.  While I’m pleased with my pictures, they don’t do justice to this majestic landscape.  The Grand Canyon is just something you experience by being there rather than viewing images.

Like many of my excursions that are tagged onto the end of business trips, I try to cover a lot of ground in a very short time period.  Fortunately we took a family trip to the Grand Canyon a few summers ago so I was fine with a short trip this time.  I only had one sunset and one sunrise shoot so I had to research different locations to maximize time.

I’ve shot at Yaki point before and picked it again for sunset based on park ranger recommendations and my own familiarity.  In hindsight, I wish I had picked something completely new and just taken the gamble on what to expect.

I was very pleased with the way these black & white's turned out.  I've started to find that I like HDR images much better in black & white, really brings out the deep contrast in the images.

I love this area of the park, been there a few times on my trips and always find it very photogenic!
