We took a train from Venice to Cinque Terre for a few days in a very different environment. There have been a number of land slides in the area so we weren't able to hike between all the villages as we had hoped. We stayed in Manarola, took the train to Monterosso al Mare and hike to Vernazza. I would definitely like to revisit this area and spend more time in each of the villages!
After leaving the train station at Corniglia, you have to climb these stairs to get to the village.
I shot this by accident. I was photographing the sunset over Manarola and turned around to see this other view. Wasn't even really sure what I was photographing until later. This is the village of Corniglia, much different than the others. This one does not have a harbor and as you can see is perched up on the cliffs.
We hiked from Monterosso al Mare to Vernazza - awesome!
We originally had planned on staying in Monterosso but couldn't find a place. We loved Manarola and glad we ended up there. Next time - we agreed that Vernazza would have been awesome as well.
But my postcard shots were all from Manarola.....so it worked out well.
