Alcatraz Island is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Lots of history at this National Historic Site. We took the audio tour through the prison as we walked around the island. I was a little afraid the girls were going to leave me there locked up…
Ashlyn and I walked around toward the back of the island. I captured this picture on the way back. Pure luck with the bird flying just past the sun - but I was very pleased with the results!
After the Alcatraz Penitentiary was closed, the island was inhabited by Indians for almost a year.
