The Mist Trail is one of the most exhilarating hikes we have done. The beginning of the trail is a steady climb, leveling off at the footbridge. After crossing the bridge, you hike alongside Vernal Falls. I had read about this trail prior to visiting Yosemite but none of us were prepared for how wet we actually got. In hindsight, we all wished we had gone further.
This photo was shot from the footbridge on the way up to Vernal Falls. This is probably one of my favorite pictures from the trip thus far.
The "climb" to Vernal Falls travels along side a deep canyon until after the footbridge.
It was just beyond this curve where we really started getting wet. I was wondering why everyone else was wearing ponchos.
Next time I do this - I'll put my camera up before reaching this point and focus on the hike. The rocks are very slippery and obviously I couldn't avoid getting water on the lens. One of the things that amazed us most was how lush the vegetation was below the falls.
After hiking back down, we stopped on the footbridge for more pictures....and look...I actually made it into one!
Is this my daughter or what?
It's funny what you notice when you stop and look around. Toward the beginning of the trailhead, I looked up and saw this great view of Yosemite Falls off in the distance.
Crossing the bridge, headed back to the bus stop, I saw this view of Half Dome.
