Friday morning we got up early to make the trip down to Battery Park and board the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. This statue was in front of the World Trade Center and now resides in Battery Park as a memorial.
It was a little chilly this morning so mom and Allie stayed inside the boat while I took pictures.
Allie being sworn in as a Statue of Liberty Junior Ranger
We also did the audio tour at Ellis Island.
Castle Clinton National Historic Site is the entrace to the ferry - so I got to mark off my first National Park visit of the trip....
We did the audio tour around the statue - very interesting. Allie also did the junior ranger program.
We climbed to the top of the pedestal. I remember as a kid during my first trip to New York they let you go to the crown - but they discontinued that after 9/11.
