Statue of Liberty

Anna Claire turned 8 this year so it was her turn for the New York trip with Grammy.  I was able to tag along and captured these pictures at the Statue of Liberty.  The weather was very overcast, lots of fog, but made for some good black & whites.

Even with the bad weather, I was pleased with the way these came out in black & white.

Teton National Forest

At the end of this winter, I had a unique opportunity to photograph in the deep snow.  We visited Jackson Hole, WY and snowmobiled around the Teton National Forest.  We were able to drive a little ways into the Grand Teton National Park.  I actually found photographing in the snow very challenging.  It's hard to find depth in an image, when you are surrounded by a sea of white.  After reviewing the pictures, I found that's what I liked most about them.  They are unique to the rest of my collection, and now of course, I must plan a longer trip back!

I was very pleased with this shot.  Unfortunately the weather never cooperated with us so I couldn't get a clear shot of the Tetons.  But when I reviewed the pictures later and saw I had captured these sun rays through the clouds, I was very pleased!

I finally caught the picture of the Bull Moose that I've been searching for.  Unfortunately, little did I know until later, Bull Moose shed their horns in February so I was too late this year.

I shot both of these from the snowmobile.  The sea of white was simply amazing...and very deep!

We drove into Grand Teton National Park a little ways.  Captured these swans swimming in the partly frozen lake just inside the park.
